The Purpose and People Behind Black Buildup
Black Buildup exists to confront and close long-standing gaps in funding access, leadership pathways, organizational capacity, and decision-making spaces that continue to limit Black and racialized communities, particularly in British Columbia and Western Canada.
Black Buildup is a Black-led ecosystem organization advancing inclusive entrepreneurship and economic opportunity in British Columbia and across Western Canada.
Founded to address systemic barriers faced by Black entrepreneurs and community organizations, Black Buildup works at the intersection of advocacy, training, partnerships, and ecosystem development to strengthen nonprofits, businesses, and community leaders, and to expand access to capital and markets.
Through collaboration with governments, financial institutions, universities, and community organizations, we are helping build a more inclusive and resilient economic future.

Executive Director & Founder
Franklin is the founder of Black Buildup and a senior strategist with over 25 years of international experience spanning energy, nonprofit leadership, capacity building, and community development across Canada, Africa, and beyond. He leads the organization's strategic vision, institutional partnerships, and policy engagement, bringing a cross-sector perspective rooted in both global practice and local community needs.

Daisy brings a decade of experience designing and delivering initiatives across tech, e-commerce, retail, and nonprofit sectors. Her work focuses on building programs and products that reduce barriers, improve access, and drive impact for underserved communities. With deep expertise in operations, program delivery, and stakeholder engagement, she translates complex challenges into practical, scalable solutions while aligning stakeholders across government, industry, and community.
