We exist to give all black Canadians and immigrants a voice, inspire and empower them to lead in all sectors and positively impact their communities and lives.

Ensure political, educational, social, and economic equality for all black Canadians.

Equality, elimination of racial prejudice, and removal of all barriers to racial discrimination against black Canadians.

Raise awareness among the Canadian public of the negative effects of racial discrimination and strive to eliminate it.

Ensure the integration and active participation of black Canadians in the political, economic and social spheres of Canada.

Franklin Bouguep

Executive Director & Founder

Franklin is passionate about human rights, diversity and inclusion and has worked in various industries, including international development and education. He has extensive experience in business development, strategic management, operations and supply chain management and has led teams of over 300 employees. Franklin has held leadership positions across industries in the United States, Europe and Africa for the past 20 years and is an agile communicator who is fluent in English, French and conversational Portuguese.

Edith Asana

Director Skills to Settlement

A holder of a Master’s degree in Peace studies with focus on Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation, Edith has close to a decade of professional experience ranging from Community Development to Client Engagement. Edith has a big heart and has volunteered for the United Nations Children’s Fund and also Global Healthcare Public Foundation. She is passionate about client engagement, nurturing relationships and building trust. With strong interpersonal skills, proficient in training, coaching and mentoring people, she brings a wealth of experience to the team.

Elodie Mpabe

Elodie Mbape Nanda

Director, Advocacy & Engagement

An experienced educator and teacher with proven professional experience in the education sector. Elodie is a certified bilingual translator (EN-FR) and is skilled in three languages (English, French and German), proofreading, creative writing and research, and holds two bachelor’s degrees in bilingual studies (English and French) and in French and foreign policy. She is currently juggling her work and completing a Master of Education at the University of Montreal in QC, Canada. Her interests include world politics, international law, critical writing, curriculum designing, children’s education and literature.

Folusho Olubunmi

Director Finance

Foluso is a champion for social and economic justice focused on reducing economic inequality. As an immigrant of color, he is passionate about breaking down systemic barriers that limit immigrants from reaching their full economic potential, especially in colored communities. A seasoned financial expert with almost 30 years of experience spanning various industries and sectors including banking & financial services, wholesale distribution, mining & exploration and non-profit, he has led and managed various teams to execute complex projects and develop cutting edge management information & control systems. Foluso’s career experience spans different aspects of financial management, such as accounting, asset management, financial analyses/forecasts, budgeting, financial controls, financial reporting, and decision support.

Anointing Momoh

Research Officer

Anointing is an Economist, Public Policy Analyst and Social Researcher with 5years of experience in supporting, developing and implementing policy research projects both in developing and developed country contexts. He hold a Masters in Economics and a Masters of Public Policy, as well as experience and training in applied policy development and research, stakeholder management and community engagement, quantitative and qualitative data analysis and data visualization. Anointing is a Canadian Bureau of International Education’s (CBIE) African Leaders of Tomorrow Scholar.

Daisy Gobina

Director Youth Programs

Daisy, a graduate of the University of British Columbia (UBC), is a young, multi-talented entrepreneur and professional who is passionate about making a positive and much bigger impact on the lives of other young people by investing and supporting them in their professional advancement and entrepreneurial initiatives. Among her other initiatives, Daisy is the Co-Founder of Bizksills Academy Inc., a virtual environment designed to build and produce young entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs in emerging markets who will create the future of work and a billion jobs. She plans to bring that passion to Black Buildup.
